Synastry is the comparison of two natal charts to understand the dynamic between two people — partners, friends, family members. But it's worth setting expectations straight from the start: it isn't a test of whether two people "fit" with a single verdict at the end — it's more of a map of where the connection comes naturally, and where more patience and communication will be needed.
How it works
In synastry, one person's planets are laid over the other person's houses and planets, and the two are examined for how they interact. For instance, which specific houses of one person's chart the other person's planets fall into shows which areas of that person's life they tend to influence most strongly.
An important nuance: the relationship isn't symmetrical
One of the most underappreciated things about synastry is that it isn't symmetrical. How Person A's planets affect Person B's chart isn't the same as how Person B's planets affect Person A's chart. One person's Moon landing on the other's Sun feels quite different from the reverse combination — the first person's Sun on the second's Moon. That's why the same partner can experience a relationship quite differently than you do.
What synastry doesn't promise
Synastry doesn't guarantee eternal happiness, and it doesn't hand down a final verdict on whether to stay together. It offers insight: where you connect naturally, where more patience might be needed, and how to build better communication — but the decisions still remain yours to make.
A related technique — the composite chart
There's another, less common approach to the same subject: the composite chart, which mathematically merges two natal charts into one, as if the relationship had its own separate "horoscope." It's a distinct technique from synastry — synastry compares two charts against each other, while a composite creates a third chart representing the bond itself as its own entity.
An interesting fact
Synastry doesn't only work for romantic couples — the same method applies to friendships, family bonds, and even business partnerships, because at its core it's simply the interaction between two sets of planets, not something specific to romantic relationships.
If you don't know your exact birth time (yours or your partner's)
The birth time rectification service for one of the two people is already included in the consultation, if it's your first time working with me — an exact time is needed for at least one of the two.
